A case of Ultrasonographic Prenatal Diagnosis of Hydranencephaly

Abstract

|
Recent advances in ultrasonography permit the accurate prenatal diagnosis of numerous fetal central nervous system malformations, Hydranencephaly, a less common malformation, is an abnormality of the central nervous system, consisting of complete or almost complete abscence of cerebral hemisphere, the leptomeninges and dura being completely formed and occupying their normal position in the skull.
This is the end result of one of the many destructive process in cerebrum occuring during the prenatal period, process of birth or even postnatally. We report a case of ultrasonographic prenatal diagnosis of hydranencephaly from 32 weeks of gestation of 30 years old multipara woman with brief review of the literatures.
